The delegation of JSC "RZD" headed by the President Oleg Belozerov took part in the 19th session of the intergovernmental commission on cooperation between Russia and Kazakhstan, which was held yesterday in Aktobe and co-chaired by the First Deputy Prime Minister Igor Shuvalov and the First Deputy Prime Minister of Kazakhstan Askar Mamin.
The parties have supported the idea to build "Eurasia" high-speed railroad and agreed on the proposed corridor route through the territories of both countries. The Moscow-Kazan-Ekaterinburg-Chelyabinsk-Gorbunovo-Petropavlovsk-Kokshetau-Astana-Karaganda-Balkhash-Almaty (Kapshagai) -Altynkol direction is used as the basis for further work.
Moreover, the parties have decided to establish a joint working group with the participation of other interested parties to integrate efforts to implement the Eurasia high-speed project before the end of 2017. The working group will have the technical task of assessing the technical and economic efficiency of this project.
"The project of the Eurasian high-speed corridor connecting China with Western Europe through the territory of Kazakhstan and Russia is important for each of our countries. We hope for constructive negotiations with China and Belarus, with European partners, so that this corridor is created and works," Igor Shuvalov said at a meeting of the Russian-Kazakh IGC.
Let’s recall that according to preliminary calculations, “Eurasia" high-speed railroad will become the world's largest project in the sphere of railway transport which will be able to combine high-speed transport systems of Europe and China. Its implementation will not only make possible to change the structure of transcontinental transportation and improve the competitiveness of rail transport but it will generate significant socio-economic and agglomeration effects, as well.
