Public hearings regarding construction of the Moscow-Kazan HSR were held in Kazan

The Moscow-Kazan high-speed line project does not provide for land withdrawal and demolition of buildings in Kazan. This was stated by at public hearings by the Director of the Technical Department of JSC "High-Speed Rail Lines" Yuri Kotlov.

According to the speaker, of the four analyzed options for the route, three ones touch a large number of houses and families living in them. As a result, the option which is most preferable for residents of the affected areas has been chosen.

The most acute issue was the need to cut down 54,663 trees. Thus, the planned mandatory compensatory measures will provide for planting of more than 176,000 seedlings.

Moreover, the implementation of the project will be fulfilled using technologies causing a minimum harm to the nature. "If the railway is constructed on the earth work, it will be necessary to increase the width of the right-of-way. In order to avoid this, the designers have developed an overpass variant," Kotlov said.

Representatives of nature protection organizations noted that the project was developed from noise, vibration and environmental impact protection perspective.

Public hearings lasted more than two hours and the total number of registered participants exceeded 290 people. The opinions expressed at the public hearings will be taken into account during the process of project finalizing.
